In response to a question from a reader, we want to let everyone know that Aunt Boo will be at the Christmas Market, downtown Fredricksburg MarktPlatz, December 2nd and 3rd with her new book Scamper’s Hide-Away. Of course, she’ll have the other books as well. This year we will take, cash, credit, or check. Tell all your friends to bring their kids and grandkids to meet Aunt Boo and to shop for Christmas.

Aunt Boo also has several appearances around San Antonio during the holiday season.

If you’re not in the Fredericksburg or San Antonio area, order your autographed copies of the Scamper book by mail or shop at Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.

Scamper, the big grey squirrel that lived in Aunt Boo’s backyard, dreamed of finding a cozy hide-away for the winter. He searched and he searched and he searched until he found the perfect hide-away. It was warm and comfortable and filled with everything a squirrel could ever want to play with.

Scamper was so happy in his new hide-away until Aunt Boo heard his tiny footsteps in the attic. Then Scamper’s hide-away wasn’t so cozy and fun any more.

Below is Scamper’s friend Chip, who sometimes forgets where he stores his winter food. Scamper helps him stock up for the cold weather, which makes him dream of his own hide-away.

An early cold chill in the air and the yellow leaves falling from the trees told Scamper, the big bushy-tailed squirrel, winter was just around the corner. Scamper wanted to find a warmer place to live.

Author Pat Eytcheson Taylor has brought a new perspective to reading to elementary school children with fun and laughter. She is both the author and a character—Aunt Boo—in her books.

Pat Taylor has a knack for communicating with animals, and, in turn, they share their stories with her. The entertaining stories are beautifully illustrated.

Throughout the Christmas holidays, her first book in her series about a squirrel, Scamper with the Peanut Butter Feet, became extremely popular across Texas. Aunt Boo teaches Scamper, the mischievous squirrel, a good lesson.

The second book in the series, Hide and Seek with Scamper, has just been released and is already proving to be another winner. Two more Scamper books will follow in the spring.

The books are available at the Twig Bookshop in San Antonio, Read All about It in Boerne, and Hastings Book Store in Kerrville, as well as Barnes and Noble and Borders and Amazon.com.

Of course, you can also order the books right here directly from the author and get them autographed as well.

Scamper was a big grey squirrel who lived in a wonderful place filled with everything he could ever want to eat—apples, plums, pecans, and the delicious cornbread Aunt Boo made. There was one catch to his living here. He had Aunt Boo to put up with, or should I say, Aunt Boo had to put up with him.

When winter came, Scamper knew he had to be prepared with a source of food. He had gathered more than enough pecans. Now Scamper did not know where to store them. All his favorite places were full. He had a tough decision to make.

More antics from Scamper and more terrific illustrations from Nancy Garnett Peterson to go along with the wonderful story by Pat Taylor.

Scamper was curious, as usual. Was this something to smell or to eat? First he sniffed, then he tasted. “Phooey!” They did not taste good, but they did smell delicious, he thought.

Scamper was a big gray squirrel who lived in Aunt Boo’s yard. His greatest enjoyment came from annoying her. He helped himself to the best fruits from her prize orchard, took the biggest nuts from her pecan trees, and ate the golden cornbread she baked for the birds. Scamper made a general nuisance of himself, while constantly dreaming of being king of the backyard. Aunt Boo thought and thought about how she could get even and teach Scamper a lesson at the same time. Her unique, yet simple, solution would teach Scamper to be satisfied with what he had.

The Scamper books are illustrated by Nancy Garnett Peterson, and here’s an example of her wonderful work from this book, with an excerpt from the page:

Aunt Boo was in deep thought. How was she going to keep Scamper away from the cornbread she baked for the birds? She thought and thought as she laid the cornbread in the bird feeder. She didn’t know that Scamper, with his eyes as big as saucers, was in the treetop watching her every move.

The list price of the book is $15.00, but you can order directly from the publisher at the discounted price of $12.00.
